Biography
Ayu is a scientist constantly between jobs. Her entire life has felt between things really. She aspires to work as a naturalist and botanist. She has done so many times. But like anyone working on contracts or gig work she frequently finds herself scraping to meet her budget whatever ways she can. She grew up poor so foraging and bartering is a familiar activity ever since her childhood.After all the recent disasters formal funding for research in Eorzea has dried up so Ayu finds herself helping in whatever ways she can with people who need it. Rarely taking actual payment but instead trading skill and knowledge for a meal and a place to stay. She has recently found herself invested in community groups for mutual aid and finds great joy in being of service but it means she frequently find herself putting dreams and aspirations for herself on hold.Before all the turmoil Ayu would have said she dreamed of running her own expedition or of finding a patron with curiosity to match her own. But for now she finds the rare moments spared for thoughts of the future are best spent finding the next person in need.Age | Roughly 30s

If anyone buys her a meal or invites her to a catered function Ayu is happy to talk. This includes simple snacks, drinks at the bar, or sales pitches. So long as the tab is covered she will have a hard time passing it up.Whatcha readin’?
Ayu is commonly spotted reading with a nice view. At a window, a bench, a summit, or the ocean side she will lose herself in something or other. As a result, anyone curious about her subject of study is likely to get an earful from her so ask away. Similarly, if she spots someone carrying a book with them she is likely to ask about it.Don’t I know you from camp?
Most of Ayu’s professional life has been spent hopping from expedition camp to expedition studying flora and fauna of the various regions of Eorzea. Any scientists, scholars, chefs, etc. who worked at one of these has a chance of recognizing her. If you have an interest in nature study there is a chance you have crossed paths without knowing it.Lemme pet that dog!
Ayu loves animals. She is often times spotted caring for one or studying them in the wild. She is the type to talk to a dog before its owner and is drawn to folks who do the same when she is caring for a critter. Feel free to ask her about any companions if its something that interests you or invite her to come pet yours.What could this mean?
Ayu loves a puzzle. Whether its a game or a mystery of nature. She can’t help but wrap her brain around them. If you are working on one and ask for a second opinion she will jump in and think out loud until you tell her to stop. Even then she may continue. She also tries to solve things by talking to herself, whether its household chores or deciphering aetheric binds of a particular kelp variety. She is open to help or distraction from others in these moments.A home away from home.
Ayu has a soft spot for found family. Community beyond just acquaintances. Places and people that feel like home even when far away from her own. She doesn’t always seek them out but is naturally drawn in by them and becomes much more open when surrounded by the feeling of being able to let her guard down.

No need to be an expert or anything, but I prefer not to roleplay with characters who are transplanted from unrelated games or media, or who contradict the game's major plot events. If you play someone who is difficult fit for an everyday Eorzean, expect to be treated distantly or mistrustfully in-character.Adult themes are for adults
Scenes that involve sensitive topics, dark themes, or that are otherwise graphic/explicit should be treated with caution and respect for the subject matter. Filter yourself until we know each other more. Almost anything can be written with shared trust, but we have to build that trust first.
